Marine fish of oval body, rather elongated and laterally compressed. His head is characterized by presenting the eye and left nostril to the right side. Large mouth with pointed teeth, extending below the lower eye. The lateral line has a pronounced arch above the pectoral fin, and the caudal fin is crescent shaped. Olivaceous or blackish brown, mottled with paler and irregular spots, and white belly. The female reaches a size of 250 cm, while the male reaches 140 cm.
