Marine bivalve mollusc. Solid shell, ovoid, quadrangular, with the posterior margin almost straight. Symmetrical valves, with radial and concentric sawn lines that form a less dense reticulum than Ruditapes decussatus. Hinge with three cardinal teeth in each valve. Deep and rounded pallial sinus, without reaching the center of the valve. Edge of valves is smooth. Very variable color, generally brown, decorated with various designs, often large spots or concentric or irregular dark bands; Whitish interior. Up to 8 cm in length.
