Cape hake

Order Gadiformes
Family Merlucciidae

Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. It differs clearly from Merluccius capensis, which it shares the distribution zone with, because the Merluccius paradoxus lacks scales in the lacrimal, preoperculus and interoperculus as well as any type of submandibular spot.
