Flatfish with an oval, flattened body, both eyes located on the left side. Its dorsal colouration varies from brownish to grey, effectively blending in with the seabed. The Arctic flounder is equipped with a series of rough and small scales, giving it a textured surface. The dorsal and anal fins extend along its body, while the caudal fin is rounded. Its mouth, positioned on the right side, is adapted for hunting prey on the seafloor.
