Marine cephalopod mollusc with long, narrow and cylindrical mantle. Bulky head. Wide flaps, no longer than 75% of the length of the mantle. Large eyes. Inner dorsal shell (pen) not calcified, very narrow and transparent. Tentacular club with suction cups of equal size. Variable coloration, usually pink or whitish and with the ventral area of the mantle and sides with elongated spots of reddish or garnet color due to the chromatophores present in this zone. Length: up to 90 cm in mantle.
