Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Body elongated, hydrodynamic and robust. Well developed mouth and eyes. The spines of the operculum are very marked. The scales are large. The dorsum is bluer, and the black spots remain. It weighs up to 7 kg and measures up to 60 cm.
