Southern rough shrimp

It presents an elongated and laterally compressed body, with a well-developed head and a distinctive curved upper jaw. The eyes are of medium size and located on the upper part of the head. It has long dorsal and anal fins, supported by robust spines, and moderately long and triangular pectoral fins. Its colouration varies from silver to golden on the ventral side, with darker shades on the dorsal side. Additionally, it may have scattered dark spots or marks along the body. The caudal fin is forked and pointed. Its lower jaw protrudes slightly, and the gill cover lacks bony radiating striae.
