Family Macroramphosidae

Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Wide and compressed body, covered with small adherent scales. Prolonged head in a long snout in the shape of a tube, at the end of which opens the mouth. Proportionately large eyes. Two dorsal fins, the first with four spines, of which the second is very long and strong with the posterior toothed edge. The second dorsal with only soft radios. It has no lateral line. Pinkish color by back; Silver belly. Up to 15 cm in length.
