Silver warehou

Order Perciformes
Family Centrolophidae

Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Fusiform body, slightly compressed. Small scales. The head has no scales, except for some areas of the opercula, which are scaled. The lateral line is moderately high, follows the dorsal profile and extends to the caudal peduncle. The head has a dark mask covered by small, usually visible pores. Mouth of moderate size, with almost equal jaws, the posterior ends reach the level of the half of the eyes, which are small. Paired nostrils, closer to the mouth than to the eyes. Two dorsal fins. The first originates on or slightly behind the vertical that passes through the insertion of the pectorals. The second dorsal begins immediately after the first. Caudal fin forked. Long pectoral fins, reaching almost to the vertical that passes through the anus. Small ventral, thoracic position. Coloration. Blue silver to gray on the back, rinsing on the flanks to become white silver in the ventral part. Above the base of the pectorals, where the lateral line is born, there is a dark spot. The dorsal, pectoral and caudal fins are dark, while the ventral and anal fins are clear, as are the lower radii of the pectorals.
