Shortfin mako

Family Lamnidae

Marine fish with cartilaginous skeleton more or less calcified but nor ossified. Leathery and dry skin. Hydronimanic body with the mouth in the ventral position and teeth in both jaws. It doesn´t present nictitating membrane. Caudal fin almost symmetrical, crescent-shaped. Very similar to the shark. It can weigh up to 500 kg.
