Marine fish characterized by a fusiform and elongated body, with a relatively small head in proportion to the rest of the body. It has a terminal mouth, equipped with robust jaws and sharp conical teeth. Its eyes are medium-sized and located on the top of the head. It is distinguished by the presence of long dorsal and anal fins, supported by robust spines, as well as moderately long and triangular pectoral fins. The caudal fin is forked and pointed. Its coloration varies, ranging from red to brown and orange, often with darker spots and marks scattered on the body. Additionally, it may have a clear lateral line along the body.
