Tritia mutabilis is a bivalve mollusc with an oval and elongated shell that can reach up to 6 centimetres in length. Its shell, with shades of brown or grey, exhibits visible growth striae and a solid, somewhat thick texture. Adapted to habitats of sandy or muddy bottoms in shallow waters, this species possesses a simple digestive system for filtering organic particles from the water through its inhalant siphon.
