Poor cod

It has an elongated and slightly laterally compressed body, with a relatively small head in proportion to its body size. It features a well-developed chin barbel. The body colour ranges from brownish-yellow dorsally to paler tones ventrally, with a dark blotch at the base of the pectoral fin. The dorsal and anal fins are long and supported by robust spines, while the pectoral fins are moderately long and triangular. The caudal fin is bifurcated and pointed.
