Pink cusk-eel
Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Body extremely elongated and compressed posteriorly. Fine cycloid scales on body and posterior part of head. Head depressed and rather large. Snout blunt. Small eyes. Mouth evenly curved and large reaching to posterior margin of eye, with small teeth densely distributed; upper jaw slightly anterior to lower jaw. Lateral line parallel and closer to dorsal profile. Dorsal and anal fins long, joined to caudal fin; Pectoral fin round and rather short . Pelvic fin with 2 elongate thread-like rays, larger ray about as long as lower jaw length. Colour: pinkish yellow, marbled with irregular reddish brown blotches dorsally. Maximum to about 2 m and 25 kg.
