Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Short head, ranging from 2.5 to 2.9 times the standard length. Numerous scales on the lateral line, with no scales on the nasal membrane, lacrimal, lower cheek, preopercular and interopercular. The coloration is silver gray on the back and whitish in the ventral region. It can measure up to 91 cm.
