Family Scombridae

Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Medially large head in comparison with his body, with robust torpedo-shaped body. Mouth in terminal position without chin. Small eyes. Lateral line marked, with blue metallic tonality above and silvery white on the chest, caudal fin low. The anal fin has a first long spiny ray and a very short second. It measures up to 3 m and weighs up to 450 kg.
