Marine fish with an elongated, fusiform body, featuring a prominent head and a large mouth with strong jaws. Its dorsal and anal fins are long and extended, with the dorsal fin running almost the entire length of its back. The caudal fin is forked and crescent-shaped. The pectoral fins are relatively small compared to the body size. Its colouring varies from golden and yellow hues to iridescent greens and blues, with irregular patterns of spots and stripes across the body.
