Marine crustacean presenting an elongated and compressed body. It stands out for having a well-developed head, with large and prominent eyes. The mouth is located on the ventral part of the head and is equipped with robust jaws suitable for prey capture. Additionally, it has two pairs of long and slender antennae that play important sensory functions. Its carapace is strongly sclerotized and presents a series of spines and protrusions that provide protection against potential predators. The thoracic legs are modified into claws, used for manipulating food and for defense. Its tail is formed by a fan of appendages.
