Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Elongated and oval body with ventral carina. Large, thin, slightly descending scales. Head without scales. Smooth gill operculum, eyes with transparent eyelids and prominent lower jaw. Dorsum is deep blue, and silver belly.
