Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Slender and elongated body, with a less abrupt facial profile and a sharper snout. Small and elevated eyes. Teeth forming velvety bands on jaws and vomer. Pinkish or reddish color on the back and flanks. It can measure up to 75 cm and weigh up to 6 kg.
