Giant croaker
Marine species exhibiting a distinctive morphology characterized by a robust, fusiform body, typical of members of the Sciaenidae family. Its body is laterally compressed with a slightly convex dorsal profile, while the ventral side is straighter. The head is large relative to the rest of the body and is equipped with a moderately large terminal mouth housing a row of sharp, conical teeth, suitable for efficient prey capture. Prominent eyes are situated dorsally on the head, providing a wide field of view of its surroundings. The dorsal and anal fins are long, containing sturdy spines, with the dorsal fin particularly notable for its backward extension. Moderately long pectoral fins extend laterally from the body sides. Commonly exhibits brownish-grey tones on the dorsal side and silvery-white on the ventral side, with scattered dark marks and spots along the body. This species can reach significant sizes, with adult specimens exceeding 100 centimetres in total length.
