Family Anguillidae

Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Elongated and thin body. Mouth of fleshy lips and tiny teeth. Dorsal, caudal and anal fins forming a continuous band around the posterior extremity of the body. Skin with abundant mucus. Small tiny scales inlcuded in the skin. It can weigh up to 13 kg.
