Cape redfish

It features a robust body with a laterally compressed profile and a moderately large head. The mouth is terminal and equipped with strong, conical teeth suitable for capturing prey efficiently. The eyes are relatively large and positioned dorsally on the head. This species is distinguished by its reddish to brownish colouration, often adorned with 5-6 pale spots on the upper back, adding to its distinctive appearance. The skin is covered in small, rough scales, and the fins are well-developed, with spines present on the dorsal fin. Its overall body shape facilitates agile movements in its rocky habitat, where it is commonly found along the coast of South Africa.
