Notably large eyes, adapted for vision in low-light environments. The mouth is large and terminal, equipped with sharp conical teeth. The dorsal fin is singular and extends along its back, while the anal fin is shorter. The pectoral fins are moderately long, and the pelvic fins are positioned near the throat.
