Atlantic seabob

Order Decapoda
Family Penaeidae

It presents an elongated and laterally compressed body, typical of penaeid shrimps. Its head is relatively large in proportion to the body and is covered by a horny carapace that protects the mouthparts and sensory organs. It has a pair of long, slender antennae protruding from the front of the head, while the eyes are located on the sides of the head and are of medium size. Its three pairs of locomotor legs, or pereiopods, are robust and adapted for locomotion and food manipulation. It has a long, bifurcated tail, with a series of swimming appendages along the margins that provide propulsion in the water. The abdomen is formed by a series of articulated segments and ends in a fan of appendages called abdominal pleopods, which are also used in swimming. Its coloration varies from brown tones to reddish tones, with dark bands and spots along the body, providing camouflage in its marine environment.
