Atlantic saury

Order Beloniformes
Family Scomberesocidae

It is characterized by its elongated and slender body, with a small head in proportion to the body, and a large terminal mouth equipped with a row of sharp teeth. The eyes are relatively large and located on the top of the head. It has long dorsal and anal fins, supported by robust spines, while the pectoral fins are moderately long and triangular. Its body is covered with silver scales. The tail is forked and pointed. It differs from the garfish (Belone belone) because its body is more compressed with smaller jaws and lacks green-colored spines.
