Altlantic mud shrimp
Its body is elongated and slightly laterally compressed, with a well-developed abdomen and a carapace protecting its dorsal part. The head is proportionally large, with a pair of long, slender antennae, as well as shorter antennules. Its eyes are prominent and located on the dorsal part of the head, providing it with good visual capability. The mouth is equipped with powerful jaws and specialized appendages for manipulating food. Its legs are adapted for locomotion and prey capture, with spines and hairs that provide grip on the seafloor. Regarding its colouration, it ranges from brown to reddish tones, with dark stripes and marks that provide camouflage. Adult specimens can reach several centimetres in total length.
