African sole

Family Soleidae

Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Long and oval body. Rounded head, with small and arched mouth. It differs from European sole (Solea solea) by the black color of the interradial membrane on the ocular side. The pectoral fin is black behind with the gray membrane, the brownish rays at its posterior end and white at the anterior. It can measure up to 60 cm in length.
