Fishery Officer of FAO
Marcelo Vasconcellos joined the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as a fishery resources officer in 2015 and has since led several projects in the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division aimed at supporting the implementation of the ecosystem approach to fisheries management. In the past years, he has been working on the compilation of global experiences and good practices for fisheries management under an ecosystem approach, including measures for coping with the impacts of climate change on fisheries. He holds a PhD in Resource Management and Environmental Studies. Before joining FAO, Marcelo worked as a professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande, Brazil, where he led national and international research projects and extension work focused on fisheries assessment and co-management.
