Demian Willette is an associate professor in the Biology Department at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. His teaching and research are in Applied Ecology, specifically sustainable fisheries, biodiversity monitoring and habitat restoration. Dr. Willette has his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Iowa State University, Masters in Biology from California State University, and his Ph.D. in Environmental Health Science from UCLA. He also post-doc-ed in genetics & fisheries in Southeast Asia, was a Fulbright scholar in South America, and holds one U.S. tech patent. Dr. Willette has taught and conducted research in 13 countries and has published over 55 peer-reviewed scientific papers. He is also the co-founder of Species Tracks, a biotech startup using DNA-based solutions for a more resilient ocean economy.
