Marine bivalve mollusc. Solid shell, globose, with elongated contour, asymmetrical, with radial ribs and streaks of growth more marked than in Cerastoderma edule. Thick surface, somewhat rough touch. Inner border of valves is dentate. Brown color, darker than in Cerastoderma edule. Up to 3.5 cm in length.
