Conxemar, through Seafood Europe, renews the presidency of the Market Advisory Council
The Managing Director of Conxemar and candidate through Seafood Europe, Yobana Bermúdez, has been re-elected for a second consecutive term as Chair of the Market Advisory Council (MAC), the reference body responsible for advising the European Commission and the Member States on matters related to the market for fisheries and aquaculture products in the European Union.
The decision, corresponding to the 2026–2029 term, was taken during the MAC General Assembly held today. The Assembly also elected the members of the organisation’s Executive Committee, of which Conxemar, together with FEDEPESCA, are the only two Spanish entities elected in the fields of industry and trade. This body will be responsible for steering and managing the Council’s main strategic and operational lines during the new mandate.
The MAC plays a key role in the design and monitoring of EU policies linked to the functioning, transparency and competitiveness of the European market for fisheries and aquaculture products. In this context, Bermúdez’s re-election strengthens the presence and influence of the Spanish and European processing sector in decision-making forums.
For Conxemar, active participation in these bodies—which bring together the main stakeholders and interest groups in the sector at European level—is strategic in order to convey the position of the Spanish industry and to contribute to the development of a Common Fisheries Policy focused on competitiveness, innovation and sustainability.
The re-election also consolidates the Association’s commitment to technical, rigorous and constructive dialogue at European level, in defence of a balanced and predictable market that guarantees supply and the viability of the processing industry.
