The 25th edition of the Conxemar International Frozen Seafood Products Exhibition enters its second day today with five sessions, which will continue to analyse the challenges facing the sector, and a new showcooking session focusing on the culinary possibilities of Korean seafood. In this sense, attendees will be able to delve, firstly, into the purchasing habits of seafood consumers.

Conxemar and the Association of Manufacturers and Distributors – AECOC will present, from 08.30 hours, the results of the study ‘Radiography of the buyer of frozen aquaculture products’. The presentation will take place in the restaurant of the Instituto Ferial – IVEFI. Then, from 10.30 a.m. in Platea 1, the European Market Observatory for Fishery and Aquaculture Products (EUMOFA) is organising a session focusing on the market situation in Europe under the title ‘The crisis beneath the surface: decreased groundfish availability in the EU market’.

In a similar vein, at 11.15 a.m. in Platea 2, the Organisation of Associated Producers of Large-scale Freezer Tuna Vessels (OPAGAC) will give a talk on the situation of Human Rights in fishing: ‘The New European Framework. Responsible Fishing Tuna’.

Then, from 12 noon onwards, two sessions are scheduled. The first of these, promoted by the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, will take place in Platea 1 and will deal with ‘The new digital catch certificates for the EU and the telematic application for the presentation of these electronic certificates’.

In the second, which will be held in the Carlos Casares Room and is organised by Pixeling Consultor, the debate will focus on ‘How to solve the problems of the insurance market in the frozen food industry present at Conxemar’.

Showcooking and exhibition

Following the success of yesterday’s showcooking by the famous chef Ángel León, a new showcooking organised by SLS and Kfish is scheduled for today.

In this case, the culinary demonstration will be based on the possibilities of Korean seafood, concluding with a tasting for the public in attendance.

At the same time, all those who wish can come and enjoy the exhibition ‘Twenty years of research on biodiversity and marine ecosystems in support of sustainable fishing in African fishing grounds’. Organised by the Ecoafrik platform and located in the Camilo José Cela Hall, it can be visited in the morning, from 11:00 to 13:00, and in the afternoon, between 16:00 and 18:00.

This programme of activities is part of the context of an International Exhibition in which, once again this year, a multitude of trade missions are being carried out between buyers from all over the world.

Thus, in addition to the online B2B meetings that put qualified suppliers in contact with customers or partners, the Guest Buyers Program continues to be developed in collaboration with ICEX, the Chamber of Commerce of Pontevedra, Vigo and Vilagarcía de Arousa, the Free Trade Zone Consortium of Vigo and the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion – IGAPE.
